ANSYS Workbench Users Benefit from MatWeb Integration

ANSYS users can import material properties from a growing collection of more than 55,000 material data sheets from MatWeb including hundreds of various metals, plastics and ceramics. These data sheets include precise descriptions of material properties, the majority of which originate from testing by the manufacturers. "MatWeb is glad to partner with ANSYS in this manner," said Dale O. Kipp, director of MatWeb. "Our large technical data resource is a natural fit with this high powered simulation tool. It takes time and effort for engineers and designers to refer to paper manuals, or anything else that takes them away from their software. Now they have access to property data for the exact material they need - and with just a few clicks they can export the information right to their ANSYS software." Users can create and export libraries of 20 materials at a time in ANSYS library format (XML) from MatWeb's vast collection of material data sheets. The appropriate property values in the correct units are automatically added to the XML file with ease and accuracy. MatWeb also provides extensive online material tools including a unit converter, weight and inertia calculator and hardness converter. "MatWeb is an extremely useful extension of the flexible framework of ANSYS Workbench.
