SANTA ANA, CA -- MSC.Software Corp. (NYSE:MNS), a leading global provider of simulation software, services and systems, today announced that MSC.Software completed the acquisition of The Boeing Company's (NYSE:BA) EASY5 modeling and simulation software, and will incorporate the EASY5 staff of 12 into its operations. Mechanical Dynamics undertook the acquisition of EASY5 prior to the completion of MSC.Software's acquisition of Mechanical Dynamics in May of 2002. Terms of the acquisition of EASY5 were not disclosed. "We look forward to working with our new team members from EASY5 and are confident they will provide immediate value for MSC.Software and our customers." The EASY5 product line is a set of conceptual design and verification tools used by engineers to model systems in the aerospace, automotive and other industries. Analysis tools such as nonlinear simulation, steady-state analysis, linear analysis, control system design, data analysis, and plotting are used to test systems-level components such as valves, actuators, heat exchangers, gears, clutches, engines, pneumatics, flight dynamics, and other systems. According to Pamela Drew, Boeing Vice President of Engineering and Information Technology, "EASY5 has proven to be a valuable dynamic systems simulation, modeling and analysis tool suite used by engineers at Boeing and leading companies worldwide. It should thrive as part of MSC.Software's simulation, analysis and virtual prototyping solutions." Gene Partlow, Vice President of Boeing's Intellectual Property Business said, "We are pleased to leverage Boeing's investment in the EASY5 technology by transferring it to MSC.Software, who will use it to enhance their product line and provide positive long term benefits for Boeing and other EASY5 customers worldwide."
