Falls Church, VA -- The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) has selected Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) as one of a number of vendors to compete for scientific and technical support services work under a blanket purchase agreement (BPA). Eligibility qualifies teams of vendors to compete for task orders under the agreement, which has an initial one-year base period and four option years. CSC estimates potential value of the BPA to the company at up to $100 million over five years if all options are picked up. Under the scope of the BPA, CSC will provide engineering, interoperability, acquisition management and financial management services to support the BMDO through the concept, technology, system-development and demonstration life-cycle phases. Work will be performed by CSC's Warfighting and Information Dominance business unit and will involve a team of 28 companies. "CSC and its affiliates have provided scientific and technical assistance to BMDO since the 1980s," said Aaron B. Fuller, III, vice president and general manager of CSC's Warfighting and Information Dominance business unit. "This BPA ensures that we will continue our support to the evolution of missile defense programs." CSC has gathered a comprehensive team with significant presence in northern Virginia and Huntsville, Ala. The group is well positioned to provide assistance at BMDO facilities throughout the national capitol region, which is where most of the work is expected to occur. Major team members include Raytheon Company, Science Applications International Corporation and the National Institute for Public Policy. Computer Sciences Corporation, one of the world's leading consulting and information technology (IT) services firms, helps clients in industry and government achieve strategic and operational results through the use of technology.
