Advanced Technology and Systems Co., Ltd. (ADTX), a leading provider of reliable and affordable high performance computer storage, announced Pinnacle Systems' qualification of the new ADTX L Series RAID system for use with CineWave. This RAID system combines a 2Gb Fibre Channel interface with the breakthrough technology of Serial ATA (SATA) and state-of-the-art ADTX-specific features to create a solution for some of the most demanding video applications. "The ADTX L Series RAID is a robust system that passed our tests without exceptions," said Andrew Baum, Pinnacle Systems Senior Product Manager for CineWave. "CineWave's industry-leading HD and SD video production capability places rigorous demands on storage systems. The highest performing systems help to unlock the full potential of CineWave and the L Series provided more than enough throughput for certification." "Stated simply, the L Series RAID array was designed to deliver amazing throughput," said Naresh Chadha, ADTX President of U.S. and European Operations, "ADTX's 10 years of RAID solution development knowledge has allowed us to produce next generation, high performance systems at some of the best prices in the industry. The L Series was specifically designed to meet the requirements of the most feature rich demanding systems. The Pinnacle qualification for CineWave without limitations is a testament to our hard work." Cost for performance is the main benefit of using SATA technology in the L Series RAID solutions. ATA/IDE RAID systems have been less expensive than their SCSI and Fibre Channel hard drive-based counterparts. The design of SATA takes this benefit further by delivering increased performance over current ATA/IDE designs. The ADTX L Series benefits from all the advantages of SATA plus some extra innovations usually reserved for enterprise-class systems. Instant Copy (hardware based), Remote Mirroring (hardware based) and Path Cruise (path failover) are options from ADTX that provide enhanced capability and reliability. L Series RAID solutions are available in two versions for high-end video: the High Performance single RAID controller model and the High Performance dual active/active RAID controller model. These High Performance versions of the L Series obtain their amazing throughput by using large amounts of high-speed memory and a special design that incorporates a parity generating co-processor. The L Series has storage capacities up to 3.75 terabytes and it is priced to compete against other systems certified for HD.
