AMD Operton powers fastest supercomputing system in Eastern Europe

The SKIF K-1000 supercomputer has been recently installed in Minsk, Belarus as part of a Belarusian-Russian collaboration. This supercomputing cluster, based on 567 AMD Operton processors, was designed by the Institute of Informatics of the National Academy of Science of Belarus. The Programme Network Institute of the Russian Academy of Science participated in the project. The SKIF K-1000 is the fastest supercomputing system in the Eastern Europe and one of the 100 fastest computers in the world, holding the 98th position in the latest TOP500 SUPERCOMPUTER SITES. The cluster has a peak performance of 2.5 teraflops. The SKIF K-1000 will form the platform for Belarusian National Supercomputer Center.
