Significant investments in staffing, R&D and infrastructure to accommodate growth
Prolexic Technologies, the global leader in Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) mitigation services, today announced that it delivered another year of record growth in 2012.
Revenue increased more than 60 percent due to strong demand for the company’s DDoS protection services. This follows a compound annual growth rate of 45 percent in 2011. The company also increased bookings by 97 percent compared with 2011. For the year, Prolexic was cash-flow positive and it was able to increase cash reserves more than 300 percent despite record spending on R&D and operations to expand its cloud-based DDoS mitigation infrastructure.
“I am delighted to report that our momentum going into 2013 is even stronger than it was going into 2012,” said Scott Hammack, chief executive officer at Prolexic. “Across the board, Prolexic is growing rapidly as more organizations around the world realize the increasing threat of large DDoS attacks to their businesses and Prolexic’s unique ability to stop them.”
To keep pace with the growing scale and diversity of DDoS attacks, Prolexic continued to invest heavily to maintain its service delivery excellence. The company has doubled bandwidth capacity of its mitigation infrastructure to more than 800 Gbps so it can continue to absorb the massive attacks that typically overwhelm other mitigation providers, content delivery networks, ISPs and telcos.
“On one day in 2012, Prolexic mitigated a 75 Gbps attack, a 45 Gbps attack in addition to mitigating 10 other DDoS attacks,” said Hammack. “Few, if any, other providers have the bandwidth, resources and expertise to do this, which is why more and more companies are choosing Prolexic.”
In line with the company’s rise in revenues, Prolexic also increased employee global headcount by 60 percent. “DDoS is a global threat that is increasing and consequently, demand for our services should remain high in 2013,” said Hammack.
Details of Prolexic’s DDoS mitigation activities on behalf of its global client base are published quarterly in the company’s Global DDoS Attack Report.
