- With the Galician SMEs CloudPYME Project and Northern Portugal Metalworking and metallurgical sectors are benefiting from a unique initiative that will help them improve their international competitiveness with the inclusion in their software processes free CAD, CAE and simulation.
- A total of thirteen companies in these sectors have already proven platform and are significant advantages.
The Supercomputing Center of Galicia, CESGA, along with Matalúrgica Research Association Northwest AIMEN, the Center Technological Support to Industry Metalomecânica, CATIM and Associaçao of Industriais Metalúrxicos and Metalomecánicos of Portugal, AIMMAP drive innovation in SMEs in the south of Galicia and Northern Portugal, through the use of advanced design, engineering and supercomputer simulation.
Companies are increasingly using modeling and supercomputer simulation to increase their competitive advantage. CESGA, AIMEN, CATIM and AIMMAP have joined forces to provide through this project, access to simulation software and additional open source supercomputing capacity. CESGA and its partners put their experience with these technologies to support the productive sector in the Euroregion. The ultimate goal is to help companies to increase their competitiveness through innovation. Thus, through the Project CloudPYME small and medium manufacturing will hold or maintain as a possession, privilege, a range of advanced technologies and expertise that delivers the lastest generation. The technologies and processes undertaken by the CloudPYME project are aligned with the new international paradigms Enterprise Cloud services for manufacturing, putting Galicia and Northern Portugal at the forefront of technology, being also a benchmark for other international projects.
The goal of this project is to improve the international competitiveness of Euroregion enterprises by providing them with the necessary knowledge, access to simulation tools with a license fee to enable them to improve their products more efficiently and effectively, at lower cost and in a shorter time, a support platform for use and supercomputing power that does not impose limitations on their needs. During the two years they have been running the CloudPYME project, thirteen Galician and Northern Portugal companies have agreed that these tools really drive innovation in their processes and products.
Specifically ESYPRO companies, ABALDE INDUSTRIES, INDUSTRIES FERRI, RONAUTICA, TEXAS CONTROLS Prova Galicia and Engineering, INCOMEF, Marques & Cruz, Weproductise Lda, Domingos Fernandes Carpintaria Ralha and Herdeiros., Tufama - Civil Construction Lda, Vale & Quintão Lda and AMOB - Machines and northern Portugal Ferramentas have benefited from the use of such technology to improve their products, in cases such as anchoring parts, pontoons, walkways garbage transport, folding chairs, hoists, etc.
CloudPYME is a boon for businesses so that members can become competent with advanced supercomputing technologies, carrying out projects that produce tangible benefits and increase their competitiveness. The total project cost is 417280, of which 75% is funded ERDF through the second call Cooperation Operational Programme Border Spain - Portugal 2007-2013 POCTEP.
