Luxtera has announced its participation at SEMICON West 2013, taking place July 9-11 in San Francisco. Luxtera joins industry leaders and will present in the “Building an Infrastructure for Silicon Photonics” session at the Extreme Electronics Stage located in South Hall, Moscone Center. Specifically, Luxtera’s vice president of engineering, Peter De Dobbelaere, will deliver a presentation on “Silicon Photonics Technology Platform for High Speed Interconnect” on Wednesday, July 10 from 11:20 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
With increasing demands for bandwidth and reach, data centers are looking for Silicon Photonics to support the tsunami of data and compute capabilities required. In his presentation, De Dobbelaere, an industry veteran, will detail Luxtera’s Silicon Photonics platform and how it has been applied in the development and manufacturing of high performance optical transceivers. Luxtera has shipped more than half a million of its Silicon Photonic chipsets to date, and expects demand for more than 10 million units a year by 2016.
“There is tremendous market opportunity for Silicon Photonics as the industry continues to move toward new architectures requiring faster network and computing speeds,” said Chris Bergey, Luxtera’s vice president of marketing. “Our technology offers our customers a high-volume, capable source of supply and an aggressive long-term photonic process technology roadmap. To be invited to present amongst leading industry leaders at SEMICON West 2013 is very exciting for Luxtera.”
