Chelsio Communications has announced it has released the industry's first logo-certified (WHQL) driver for Microsoft NetworkDirect, enabling very low MPI latency for high performance computing (HPC) environments running Windows Server 2008. Additionally, Chelsio announces a roadmap target to deliver two microsecond MPI latency for its NetworkDirect driver in the next 12 months. Microsoft NetworkDirect is the new low-latency RDMA network API that is part of Windows HPC Server 2008.
"Chelsio is the first to deliver a Microsoft certified NetworkDirect driver for Windows HPC Server 2008," said Vince Mendillo, director of HPC marketing at Microsoft. "Combined with Chelsio's adapters, a Windows-based server can now deliver the lowest latency Ethernet RDMA environment for HPC applications."
"We are continuing our focus on delivering the full benefits of the Unified Wire to Windows-based data center and HPC environments and look forward to our continued close collaboration with Microsoft," said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio. "Being the first industry partner to deliver a WHQL-certified driver for NetworkDirect is a major milestone achievement for Chelsio, and our roadmap ensures that we will continue to deliver the industry's best Ethernet latency."
Chelsio's all-in-one 10Gb Ethernet adapters support NIC, TCP Chimney, iSCSI and RDMA clustering on Windows Server 2008 for Enterprise Data Center and HPC environments. The WHQL-certified NetworkDirect driver is available now from Chelsio and its distributors.
