ANN ARBOR, MI -- Comshare, Incorporated (Nasdaq: CSRE) announced today that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will dramatically open its innovative "balanced measures" application to a wider user-base than ever before. A Comshare(R) customer for well over a decade, the IRS recently committed to broadening the user-base and the functionality of its application via the web to become a "balanced measures" application for the entire IRS organization. Once completed, the application will be available to 5,000 users -- three times larger than its original 1,500 users -- using web-based Comshare Decision(TM). This represents a major investment in the already widely used system. The software purchase was facilitated by ComTeq Federal, a wholly owned subsidiary of PC Connection (Nasdaq: PCCC), through its established GSA contract. The Comshare system will work in tandem with Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services to support the wealth of data that will be pulled from various source systems at the agency. When the IRS began its information management effort back in the early 1990s, there were proprietary management information systems for a variety of functions within the IRS. Each function, such as Collection, Examination, and Customer Service, had its own management information system with its own database. Today, using the balanced measures concept, the IRS is tapping data from a centralized database to provide information to the entire organization. The new application will enable the IRS to make the information more accessible to high-level users who will get a first-hand view of their operational performance at a glance. As a result, everyone -- executives and members of the IRS's support staff -- will have access to the information they need to do their jobs more effectively. Using web-architected Comshare Decision, the new "balanced measures" application will be rolled out to 5,000 users over the IRS's intranet. The application will track customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and business results across the enterprise and report on how those measures are tracking compared to plan. The IRS has worked with Comshare for well over 10 years. Comshare has built a long-term relationship with the IRS, providing decision-makers with high-quality business solutions using the most effective and current technology. Comshare is pleased to be among the ranks of other world-class vendors the IRS has chosen to support the efforts of the service.
