Agreement between SSI Forum and HPCSC will allow cooperation in blade specifications, marketing and interoperability testing
The Server System Infrastructure Forum (SSI) has announced a liaison agreement with the High-Performance Computer Standardization Committee (HPCSC), an independent special interest group devoted to developing in-country resources for high-performance computing. Under the terms of the agreement, HPCSC will adopt SSI Forum specifications for future blade server standards developed for the Chinese market. The HPCSC and SSI Forum officially signed the liaison agreement at the HPCSC Plenary on Saturday, February 6 in Xia Men, China.
Under the terms of the agreement, SSI Forum and HPCSC will support interoperability between HPC solutions that are compliant to SSI blade specifications. The organizations will collaborate on synchronizing efforts for future specifications, as well as implementing SSI blade specifications as the foundation for future blade server standards developed by the HPCSC and ratified by the Chinese government.
“We are pleased to announce this agreement with the SSI Forum so that we can bring to market solutions based on a set of comprehensive and fully-adopted SSI specifications that are congruent with HPSCS standards,” said XiaoYu Li, executive director, HPCSC.
“The agreement between the SSI Forum and HPCSC is an ideal collaboration between two standard setting organizations, and will now provide the Chinese market with a unique blend of blade server specifications,” said Jim Ryan, chairman, SSI Forum. “Both organizations have a mutual interest in growing the blade server market, and I look forward to working closely with the members of the HPCSC on future specifications.”
