Internet2 to Netcast Highlights of Annual Member Meeting

Meeting to Address Key Advances in High Performance Networking, Applications and Community Strategic Planning Efforts: Internet2 will hold its annual Spring Member Meeting from April 21-23, 2008 in Arlington, VA. The meeting brings together nearly 600 hundred leaders from research and education to address key advances in high performance networking and leading-edge Internet technologies. The meeting encompasses a diverse roster of presentations, sessions, working group gatherings, and workshops in areas such as dynamic circuit networking, advancements and adoption of middleware capabilities, security on high-performance networks, as well as presentations on advanced applications. Internet2 will netcast live select member meeting sessions for worldwide viewing. This year, there will be a particularly important focus on the Internet2 Strategic Planning efforts, a major undertaking by the Internet2 community to reinvent the direction and priorities of the Internet2 organization. The keynote session will provide an update on the strategic planning progress as well as provide a venue to announce the 2008 Internet2 Driving Exemplary Applications (IDEA) award winners. The second general session will feature a keynote from John Curran, founder and chairman of the American Registry of Internet Numbers (ARIN). The session will also host a panel discussion on the recently released "Blueprint for Big Broadband," a report developed by EDUCAUSE that provides an innovative approach to bringing the federal government, state governments, and the private sector together to make high-speed Internet services available across the country. The panel will feature John Windhausen of Telepoly Consulting among other distinguished speakers.
