Reporting to the Associate Director of FAS High Performance Computing, will collaborate in a range of projects focused on building, maintaining and using world class high performance technical resources at Harvard. These resources will include large scale computational systems and petascale shared parallel storage to support scientific research across Harvard's Faculty of the Arts and Sciences. Responsibilities include performing high performance cluster systems administration, software development and hardware installations within a scientific research environment. Troubleshooting MPI code, documentation of systems architecture and usage as well as optimizing applications for parallel execution. Additionally, individual will be a resource for Researchers, providing technical consultation and mentoring in methods and opportunities to use HPC resources. A master's degree or Ph.D. in computer science or a related field with a solid background in programming, specifically in the context of solving scientific problems. Minimum 7 years experience, 3 years with numerical methods, parallel algorithms, MPI, Fortran and parallel software development on large scale computational resources. Experience supporting installation and administration of Unix/Linux OS-based high performance cluster systems. The ideal candidate will have an established background in a natural science field with experience developing, troubleshooting, and supporting software for scientific research.
