Objectivity/DB 9.3 Offers Enhanced Scalability and Security Features; Certified as a Platform for AMD Opteron and MS Visual Studio 2005 Offering valuable new enhancements to its real-time data management solution that expands the existing performance boundaries in data management, Objectivity, Inc. today announces general availability of the new Objectivity/DB Release 9.3. This new Objectivity software release is certified for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and the AMD Opteron platform in addition to the wide range of platforms currently supported. Further enhancing its scalability, Objectivity/DB 9.3 offers an innovative methodology for handling billions of objects with inherent predictability to support the rapidly growing data ingest and access performance needs of data management systems. Objectivity’s data fusion repository is used in sophisticated software applications across multiple industries to collect, analyze and correlate data and its complicated inter-relationships to increase knowledge and optimize processes. In addition, computing environments utilizing distributed Objectivity/DB servers now have enhanced security methodologies, enabling them to maintain robust service even in the presence of a range of different attacks. “This new software release of Objectivity/DB delivers new performance and security features making our data fusion repository even more powerful and further expanding the performance boundaries in data management,” stated Jay Jarrell, president and CEO at Objectivity, Inc. “Innovators and developers will find our platform increases their speed, precision and productivity in the management of complex data for their sophisticated mission-critical and often real-time data management applications.” Objectivity/DB 9.3 - New Scalability, Security and Platform Support “Many of Objectivity’s High Performance Computing customers store Petabytes of information in systems having ingest rates of over a Terabyte per hour. This places a great strain on traditional indexing techniques. The new scalable collection classes in Objectivity/DB 9.3 are easy to use and have predictable, scalable performance and storage characteristics,” said Leon Guzenda, chief technology officer at Objectivity, Inc. “Objectivity/DB uses simple, distributed data, lock and query servers. Release 9.3 has improved and highly efficient security mechanisms for protecting Objectivity/DB servers against various kinds of attacks, such as swarming.” The new features and benefits of the Objectivity/DB 9.3 release include: - Scalable Collections – Objectivity’s ooCollection classes have been redesigned to provide new scalability capabilities for highly demanding data ingest and access performance needs. Incorporating an enhanced tree structure implementation, Objectivity/DB’s tree-based collections (ooTreeSetX, ooTreeMapX, and ooTreeListX) now feature the option of caching partial key data in tree nodes; thereby avoiding touching many actual object pages during ingest comparisons. Because of this the horizon of linear performance is greatly extended. The hash-based collections (ooHashSetX and ooHashMapX) in this release are also significantly upgraded, including automatic caching of key data in hash bucket structures, thus eliminating the need to touch many objects. - Enhanced Server Security – Objectivity’s servers (lock server, AMS, IPLS, and query server) now have added security measures addressing denial-of-service attacks such as attempts to claim and hold connections or mimic message traffic. And of significance, there are also new safeguards against break-in attempts by unauthorized clients to access or modify data. This enables Objectivity/DB servers to maintain robust service even in the presence of a range of different attacks. - Enhanced Platform Support – In addition to the wide range of platforms currently supported, the new Objectivity/DB 9.3 release includes support for the following important additional platforms: - Windows x64/Visual Studio (VS) 2005 - Sun Solaris x64/x86 on AMD Opteron - Intel Enterprise Linux V4 (32-bit and 64-bit)
