With Feature-Filled Developer Online Option, SGI Simplifies the Process of Writing, Porting and Certifying Software for SGI Platforms: In response to growing demand from developers worldwide, SGI today unveiled a completely revamped Global Developer Program. The new program leverages an innovative online portal to make it easier than ever to write, port and certify applications for SGI's award-winning cluster, server, supercomputer and storage solutions. Designed for ISVs, system integrators, consultants and end-user developers, the retooled SGI Global Developer Program better aligns developer support offerings with the latest SGI platforms, including 64-bit Linux, dual- and single-core Intel Itanium 2 processors, and dual-core x86-64 Intel Xeon processors. The program offers two levels of membership. Developer Online gives every member online access to a reference system which SGI owns and operates outside the company's firewall. The highly scalable system can be used not only for porting and certification on SGI, but for confirming the scalability of codes on a large-scale single system image configuration. Developer Online members also gain access to Supportfolio, a collection of downloadable patches, SGI software updates, a database of resolved bugs and issues, and additional useful developer information. Access to these services is available for one year and can be extended annually. Members can also purchase discounted instructor-led training, list their products in the SGI Applications Directory, and incorporate SGI branding in their marketing materials. Developers of software for commercial resale can opt for Developer Plus membership, which gives them additional benefits, including five cases (or one year) of email-based technical support with extension options, and discounts on SGI hardware, software, utilities and toolkits. Developer Plus members also can request SGI participation in product launches, user group meetings, corporate events, and other efforts to reach out to their user communities. "SGI is committed to working with our developers to create joint revenue opportunities by continually improving our support options, tools and services," said Ivan Paderta, ISV Program manager, SGI. "Developer Online is the latest example of this commitment, making it easier than ever for all types of developers to create, port and certify applications optimized for SGI's acclaimed solutions."
