George Washington University Hosts Mitrion FPGA Supercomputing Day

Mitrionics, Inc., developer of the Mitrion Virtual Processor and software-centric Mitrion-C programming language for FPGA Supercomputing acceleration, today announced it will be conducting an all-day FPGA Supercomputing conference and workshop at George Washington University's High Performance Computing Labs. The conference is FREE and open to students, faculty, researchers, developers, and scientists at the university or by invitation. The conference and workshop will take place on September 29, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mitrionics' President and CEO Anders Dellson and Mitrionics' Applications Analyst Jace Mogill will cover a broad range of introductory-to-advanced topics designed to provide attendees with both a theoretical and working knowledge of how to develop and implement FPGA Supercomputing applications using the Mitrion Platform. The Mitrion FPGA Supercomputing Day event is being hosted by Dr. Tarek El-Ghazawi, Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of the High Performance Computing Lab at George Washington University. FPGA Supercomputing is an exciting and growing market segment based on technology that enables processor performance acceleration 10x to 100x greater than traditional processors and with much lower power consumption. Scientists, developers, and researchers strive to improve productivity by achieving faster performance in their supercomputing applications and lower power consumption in their systems. The software-centric Mitrion Platform is the leading technology because it allows FPGA Supercomputing applications to be developed without any circuit design skills. Key application areas that stand to benefit most from FPGA Supercomputing are bioinformatics, oil and gas, imaging, and financial industries.
