NetEffect today announced they will showcase their 10Gb iWARP Ethernet channel adapter (ECA) at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) to demonstrate Ethernet support for the OpenFabrics software. NetEffect’s NE010e will be featured as part of a demonstration, where Intel’s MPI will be running over OpenFabrics’ uDAPL interface, showcasing the OpenFabrics Alliance support for iWARP Ethernet. The demonstration will take place in OpenFabrics booth #732. As part of the demonstration, Cisco Systems will feature its Ethernet and InfiniBand switches, and QLogic will feature its products. NetEffect has developed the industry's highest performing Ethernet channel adapter and is the only company delivering adapters that fully implement the iWARP Ethernet standard, allowing data center managers to realize 10Gbps throughput using existing Ethernet hardware and software while radically improving processor utilization. “We proudly add Intel to the growing list of technology leaders who recognize the unique benefits of NetEffect Ethernet channel adapters,” said Rick Maule, CEO of NetEffect. “We are committed to the continued evolution of Ethernet, allowing the world’s most ubiquitous networking technology to meet the growing demands of today’s data centers.” “It is exciting to watch the RDMA Ethernet community demonstrate support of the Open Fabric’s Alliance. Companies such as NetEffect are committed to supporting the most demanding applications with industry leading processor and connectivity solutions, while continuing to support the ubiquitous Ethernet standards,” said Jim Pappas, director of technology initiatives for Intel Corporation. “The joint demonstration showcases the OpenFabrics standard is now truly RDMA transport independent.” NetEffect is a founding member of the OpenFabrics Alliance, an industry consortium developing transport agnostic open source software for RDMA fabric technologies. The OpenFabrics Alliance is a featured part of IDF, Intel’s annual conference where the latest advancements in Intel Core microarchitecture are on display.
