Mars Rover to be topic of next 20th Anniversary Distinguished Lecture

Steven Squyres, scientific principal investigator for the Mars Exploration Rover Project, will give a public talk on Tuesday, March 28 at 7 p.m. in Foellinger Auditorium. Mission Update: Recent Results from the Mars Exploration Rovers will provide an up-to-date summary of the activities of the twin robotic explorers, Spirit and Opportunity, that have been exploring Mars in search of evidence of past water and to determine if the planet ever had conditions that would have been suitable for life since January 2004. This presentation is the Department of Astronomy's 2006 Icko Iben Jr. Distinguished Lecture and part of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) 20th Anniversary Distinguished Lecture Series. The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the talk in room 407 of the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana.
