Seagate Technology announced the SAS Knowledge Center, an online resource to educate and prepare IT professionals and system builders for the transition to Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) technology in the enterprise. Developed by Seagate, with additional support from Adaptec, Intel and LSI Logic, the SAS Knowledge Center provides information about SAS using intuitive and interactive online visual demonstrations. Each educational module covers a unique area of SAS content and features a range of topics and material created for both technical and business-focused audiences. Current topic titles include, "The Future of SCSI," "SAS Bridges the Enterprise," "SAS in the Data Center" and "Industry Leaders Embrace SAS." SAS Knowledge Center is downloadable and is designed to be easily shared by IT departments as well as resellers seeking to educate their own customers. Bill Schilling, Seagate director of global product marketing, stated, "As SAS adoption begins to take place later this year, we anticipate the SAS Knowledge Center will continue to be a valuable tool to help ensure that the users can get the most from their SAS-enabled systems." Linus Wong, director of strategic marketing at Adaptec: "Adaptec and Seagate have long teamed up to drive seamless technology transitions and the companies are extending their longstanding product development and engineering relationship to provide a smooth migration to SAS. Spanning direct-attached and network storage for servers and workstations, Adaptec's SAS solutions will combine new levels of storage configuration flexibility and scalability with next-generation performance for database, streaming video and audio, mainline storage, video editing and other bandwidth-intensive enterprise applications." Robin Wagner, director of marketing for LSI Logic Storage Standard Products division: "LSI Logic is proud to support the SAS Knowledge Center and its role that it takes in educating potential adopters as well as users of SAS technology. Seagate has worked hard with LSI Logic to drive SAS technology, from product development and compatibility, to education and promotion." As Seagate prepares to release its first family of SAS-configured disc drives to the market this fall, the SAS Knowledge Center is an especially timely and valuable resource to help people get the most from their future SAS-based system. The SAS Knowledge Center is currently available at http://specials.seagate.com/sac/pr. Adaptec and LSI Logic also plan to offer the SAS Knowledge Center at their respective web sites this quarter.
