Global Inventures (www.inventures.com), a recognized leader in providing incubation, structuring, and management services to collaborative communities in the technology industry, today announced that the Enterprise Grid Alliance (EGA), a new alliance comprised of industry leaders in the enterprise software, hardware and services market, has retained the firm to manage ongoing collaboration activities. EGA is an open, independent and vendor-neutral community formed to develop enterprise grid solutions and accelerate the deployment of grid computing in enterprises. Grid computing connects pools of computers, storage and networks, enabling enterprises to dynamically allocate resources based on changing business needs. EGA will enable businesses to realize the many benefits of grid computing such as faster response to changing business needs, better utilization and service level performance and lower IT operating costs. The Alliance announced its formation on Tuesday, April 20, 2004. The initial EGA Board includes EMC, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, HP, Intel, NEC, Network Appliance, Oracle and Sun Microsystems. Other founding members are AMD, Ascential Software, Cassatt, Citrix, Data Synapse, Enigmatec, Force 10 Networks, Novell, Optena, Paremus and Topspin. "Grid computing is fundamental to the evolution of Information Technology in the enterprise," said Deepak Kamlani, president and CEO of Global Inventures. "We believe grids represent a paradigm shift in enterprise computing and management, and asset resourcing. We are delighted to have helped launch the EGA and we look forward to working with the community to make their vision a reality." Since its inception in 1994, Global Inventures has launched over 20 collaborative communities in communications infrastructure, broadband connectivity, and interactive communications markets. In late 2003, Global Inventures helped launch, and continues to operate, the Data Center Markup Language (DCML) Organization to promulgate a structured model and encoding to describe, construct, replicate, and recover data center environments and elements. This engagement with the Enterprise Grid Alliance continues Global Inventures' momentum in enabling strategic collaboration in the enterprise IT segment.
