The U.S. Department of Energy wants to see a nuclear event without actually blowing up anyone and has hired Hewlett-Packard to a three-year contract to do the job. HP said the DOE's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has handpicked it to develop and demonstrate a graphics visualization system that can show terascale data sets produced by the complex computer simulations.
