CONCORD, Mass. - Taiwan's largest forging machine manufacturer is using 50 licenses of SolidWorks(r) three-dimensional computer-aided design (3D CAD) software to streamline design of its mechanical presses, SolidWorks announced today. SolidWorks software enables engineers at Chin Fong Machine Industrial Company to reduce design time, ensure accuracy, manage CAD data, and communicate designs with team members so they can quickly bring new products to the global market. Chin Fong is using SolidWorks software to design its forging machines faster than it could with other CAD products. It also uses SolidWorks COSMOSXpress(tm) to conduct initial structural analyses of its designs. As one of the world's top five mechanical press builders, Chin Fong Machine has won Taiwan's National Award for quality for the past three years in a row. Global manufacturers use its power presses to forge, stamp, pierce, mold, extrude, and draw a variety of parts for any industry requiring metal forging. Chin Fong products make gears for automobile transmissions and brackets for furniture, among countless other applications. "Conducting upfront analysis helps our engineers troubleshoot design problems early on to prevent production errors that could delay product delivery," said Jack Chao, research and development manager at Chin Fong Machine. "Streamlined analysis coupled with powerful visualization, large assembly, and physical simulation capabilities give our engineers the tools they need to design products in a shorter time than if we used other CAD solutions." Chin Fong also uses SolidWorks eDrawings to e-mail solid model designs of its products to internal users and external customers. Without having to purchase additional software, users can simply click on an icon in the e-mail to review and comment on the solid models. eDrawings speeds the review process and further ensures the designs will meet customer needs prior to production. "Creating new designs quickly keeps Chin Fong ahead of its global competitors," said Ved Narayan, director of SolidWorks' Asia-Pacific operations. "Its product development team has earned several design awards because it has paid attention to detail. SolidWorks, COSMOSXpress, and eDrawings help Chin Fong reduce design time while meeting its customers' precise engineering demands." SolidWorks reseller SolidWizard Corporation provides Chin Fong with software training, support, and consulting services.
