Robert Reece, Apple Computer's senior education development executive, will give a presentation on "Using iLife 06 in Teaching and Research" from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 2 in the auditorium of the NCSA Building, 1205 W. Clark St., U. The talk is sponsored by the Center for Computing in Humanities, Arts, and Social Science (CHASS). Apple has been working to make technologies such as iTunes and the iPod an integral part of the academic community, enabling, for example, lecturers to easily create podcasts or vidcasts of their lectures for distribution to their students. Apple has partnered with several universities, including Stanford, in creating solutions for making lectures and other recorded content available through a separate part of the iTunes store and has recently released the iTunes U application, which facilitates hosting of this content. Apple's technology also facilitates collaborative research and provides a means of publishing research findings online. For more information and to register (optional), go to its Web site.
