Enterasys Networks announced that its chief technology officer, John Roese, will be a featured speaker at CERN's Computing in High Energy Physics (CHEP) conference today in Interlaken, Switzerland. Enterasys has worked closely with CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, on the networking requirements for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) project, the world's largest and most powerful particle accelerator, which is under construction near Geneva. The accelerator will be the centerpiece of one of the world's largest and most complex Grid computing networks. Enterasys has applied the exacting network performance and security requirements of CERN and its Grid-computing partners to the development of next-generation enterprise networking technology that will reach the market in 2005. Roese's address, "The Future of High Capacity LANs," will discuss state-of-the-art local area network (LAN) technology and its future direction. He will focus on the intersection of capacity advancements and the need for greater security and intelligence within communications systems. "It's an honor to speak at an event attended by some of the leading technology minds in the world," said Roese. "This is a tremendous audience for Enterasys and our Secure Networks message. In our work with CERN, we have demonstrated how our networking solutions can deliver high performance and industry-leading security to some of the most complex networks on earth. The same robust capabilities Enterasys delivers to Grid computing networks can help all types of enterprises improve network availability, protect vital data from unauthorized access and apply acceptable use policy to meet the needs of a wide range of users."
