Whamcloud announced a support agreement with the Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA), the French Atomic Energy Commission. Whamcloud will provide Level 3 Lustre support directly for CEA on a project basis. This is not the first time Whamcloud has supported CEA Lustre use. CEA's main system, the Tera100, runs Lustre supported by Whamcloud and their partner Bull, the large European Information Technology company.
"It's CEA's mission to look deep into a wide range of energy, defense and IT research topics. Making sure our high performance computing clusters are running smoothly is key, and it is the main reason we are working with Whamcloud," said Jacques-Charles Lafoucrière, Chef de Service at CEA. "Lustre is a great file system for our types of projects. And nobody supports Lustre better than Whamcloud."
"Lustre performs really well in academic and research environments that look to push the technology and try new things. CEA is known worldwide for its cutting edge research and heavy numbers crunching, and we're pleased to be working with them to support Lustre," said Brent Gorda, CEO of Whamcloud.
Whamcloud will be at ISC11, June 20-22, in Hamburg, Germany. The company will be demonstrating Lustre technologies in booth #843.
