NextIO announced general availability of the vCORE Express Lite GPU computing solution.

As the latest edition to the vCORE Express product line, the new vCORE Express Lite computing solution is designed with two Fermi-based NVIDIA Tesla 20-Series computing processors with 12GB of total GPU RAM in a standard 1U chassis. Compared to multi-core CPUs, the vCORE Express Lite delivers the same performance at 10% the cost and 5% the power consumption.

Designed for the technical and enterprise workgroup computing space, the NextIO vCORE Express Lite delivers Error Correction Codes (ECC) memory for uncompromised accuracy and scalability, as well as 7X the double precision performance compared to competing GPU computing products. Additional features of the vCORE Express Lite include:

• Full GPU communication bandwidth: By externalizing and dedicating full-bandwidth to a single GPU, server options are now virtually unlimited to the HPC community.
• More accurate provisioning: For projects that cannot effectively utilize multiple GPUs per server, the two-GPU option gives the HPC community the ability to provide only the capacity that is needed for a specific project.
• Cost-effective entry: With two GPUs, the cost of building a test or starter cluster is dramatically reduced while maintaining the flexibility to test different configurations on the server.
• Easier lifecycle management: The vCORE Express Lite allows the GPU and the server to be managed separately while minimizing downtime.
• Lower total cost ownership: Compared to multi-core CPU clusters, the vCORE Express Lite is 10% of the cost; compared to servers with embedded GPUs, the savings associated with lifecycle management quickly justifies the upfront costs.

NextIO’s vCORE product family offers NVIDIA’s record-setting GPUs for both compute-intensive and data visualization requirements. vCORE Express enhances NextIO’s GPU consolidation product portfolio by introducing an entry-level but powerful solution for workstation and small cluster compute applications to large scale fixed configuration clusters. Ideally suited for customers with a low number of job counts, low-to-medium GPU counts, or a combination of both, vCORE Express enables enterprise customers to easily deploy and seamlessly manage a consolidated GPU solution in a rack environment.
