Nimbus Exchange announced industry veteran Phill Lawson-Shanks has joined the company to lead corporate strategy and product marketing. Nimbus Exchange is focused on accelerating the transformation of cloud-based business, helping organizations reduce costs by more quickly and securely transporting data and applications between private and public cloud platforms.
Cloud computing brings together the best elements of information management - high-performance computing, systems management, ubiquitous application and data availability - to re-define how information technology is deployed and consumed. The interoperability of enterprise-class private cloud solutions and low-cost, highly available, ubiquitous public cloud platforms give organizations unparalleled flexibility to create and deliver next-generation services.
Nimbus Exchange provides neutral and independent network hubs that enable enterprises to create a hybrid solution, connecting their private and public clouds; customers simply connect once and gain access to multiple cloud-based providers. Upon joining Nimbus Exchange, the service providers and their customers can connect to any other party within the exchange and more easily migrate data into and out of their cloud.
Lawson-Shanks brings significant Cloud-industry knowledge and insight. He has vast experience in designing and creating adaptive infrastructure solutions and application platforms, and holds patents for technologies that are widely deployed today. Most recently, Lawson-Shanks held the position of Chief Strategy Officer at Alcatel-Lucent where he successfully designed and deployed the company's cloud strategy. Prior to Alcatel-Lucent, Lawson-Shanks lead SAVVIS' Managed Hosting Division where he architected and deployed one of the pre-cursers to what we now call Cloud Computing. At MCI, he was VP and GM of the Digital Media Technologies group, which he built from the ground up as an internal "startup" to enable real-time ingest, editing and distribution of digital assets for the broadcast media and entertainment industries. Additionally, Lawson-Shanks spent many years with Compaq Computer, both in Europe and the US where he lead several organizations, and launched multiple products and services.
