Korenix Launches High Performance IEC 61850-3 Certified 24 Port +4G Layer3 Modular Managed Switch, JetNet 5828G for Large-Scale Substation Application

Korenix extends its series of IEC 61850-3 substation-rated switches by releasing the brand new JetNet 5828G 24+4G port Modular Managed Switch with complete Layer 3 IP Unicast routing features specifically designed to provide enhanced group management of large scale networks in power substations and electrical utilities.
Approved with the IEC61850-3 & IEEE1613 substation as well as NEMA-TS1/TS2 traffic and EN 50121-4 railway control standards, it shares the same design with the JetNet 5628G series Layer 2 switches, supporting 3 modular slots which provide different copper and fiber port combinations for having more flexibility in deploying the devices in industrial applications. The switches ensure data transmission reliability through Korenix patented MSR ring redundancy and the traditionally used MSTP network redundancy protocols, enabling users to have non-stop data flow in different network infrastructures.

- Flexible Data Extension via 3 modular slots and High-port Density Design
JetNet 5828G is equipped with 3 Fast Ethernet modular slots that can be easily modified. Users can benefit from the modular design to provide 24 copper ports or 18 fiber ports if they need extended data transmission. - 24+4G Layer3 Routing and Switching performance
The distinctive feature of JetNet 5828G series is their hardware-based Layer3 routing capability. JetNet 5828G equips 24+4G Layer 3 switch fabric which enables users to easily configure multiple IP subnets using a single port or the VLAN interface, and then route these subnets using IP, VLAN and Multicast Routing engine with 24x 100Mbps + 4Gbps performance.
- Enhanced Layer 3 Functionality and VRRP Router Redundancy
JetNet 5828G series support IP Route functionality, including static route, dynamic unicast routing protocol, RIP V1/V2, OSFP V1/V2 and MRoute for Multicast Routing. RIP is a typical hop-based routing protocol, which is easily applied to low size networks and the OSFP is a link state based routing protocol which can be implemented in complex IP networks. MRoute is designed to route multicast streams from different subnets within the switch.
In addition, as the switches feature L3 ACL, users can ensure advanced security of the networks by applying it to multiple subnets in different network groups. The VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) protocol allows the hosts to continuously direct traffic to the default gateway without the default gateway configuration change.
