Semiconductor continues to expand its portfolio of products to simplify and speed the design of computing platforms.
"Our strategy continues to focus on developing products that enable computer OEMs to simplify their design and speed development while reducing overall power consumption and saving board space," said Bill Schromm, ON Semiconductor senior vice president and general manager of Computing and Consumer Products. "Our focus on increased efficiency, power density, and signal integrity is required as lines between traditional computing and mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, become increasingly blurred."
ON Semiconductor's portfolio addresses the major subsystems in desktop, server, notebook, and tablet computing -- including CPU power delivery, thermal management, power conversion in traditional silver-box type power supplies and adapters, and high-speed interface switching and protection. An expanded product offering also addresses the industry's increased migration of computing technologies into mobile platforms, like smart phones, with the company's recent release of the industry's first Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) switch that allows users to simultaneously transfer high definition (HD) video from smart phones and tablets to HD TVs while charging their battery.
The company's breadth of computing solutions include multi-phase Vcore controllers; ac-dc and dc-dc controllers, converters and regulators; voltage and current management; MOSFETs; amplifiers & comparators; EEPROM memory; as well as solutions for power switching, interface, protection and filtering for computing and peripherals applications.
Among the newest products ON Semiconductor now offers for next generation computing platforms are:
-- The ESD7008, MG2040 and ESD7104, which provide electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and offer the industry's lowest capacitance, highest signal integrity and low clamping voltages for high-speed data and high-speed video lines such as USD 3.0, HDMI, DisplayPort and Thunderbolt (Light Peak).
-- Our latest solutions for PCI Express 3.0, the NCN3411 and NCN3612B provide the industry's first 1.8 volt (V) switch supporting the PCI Express 3.0 standard, providing 8 Gbps bandwidth capability with the industry's lowest quiescent current.
-- A full family of space-saving dual and thermally enhanced MOSFETs for networking, notebook, server, and graphic card applications where component density and thermal efficiency requirements are high.
IDF -- Booth 529
ON Semiconductor will be showcasing its portfolio of computing solutions during the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) from Sept. 13-15 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco -- Booth 529.
