Quantenna Delivers Industry-Leading Performance with Fourth-Generation 802.11n 4x4 MIMO Chipset Family for HD Video Delivery and Distribution

Quantenna Communications has announced a family of carrier-grade 4x4 multiple input multiple output (MIMO) Wi-Fi home-networking chipsets that delivers up to four simultaneous spatial streams with wire-like quality. Quantenna’s QHS7xx family of Full-11n™ chipsets delivers up to 600 Mbps of bandwidth in a cost-optimized fourth-generation solution that enables the development and deployment of retail products and carrier services for delivering IPTV and other Internet-based video streaming and data distribution services over an ultra-reliable, high-performance Wi-Fi connection.
Quantenna new QHS7xx family enables gateways, routers, video bridges and other products to transmit concurrent multiple 1080p-resolution high-definition (HD) video streams and standard-definition (SD) streams to multiple televisions, with whole-home coverage, over a single wireless home network. The family enables home networks to deliver the full range of services and applications – including multi-room digital video recording (DVR) and video streaming services – without requiring users to run cabling through the residence, and with a seamless and secure self-installation process.

Quantenna’s QHS7xx family includes the QHS715 chipset for demanding, high-bandwidth HD video entertainment applications, and the QHS710 solution, which is designed for cost-sensitive, mainstream IPTV deployments. In addition to using 4x4 MIMO and both explicit and implicit digital transmit beamforming technology to deliver superior performance, Quantenna’s unique architecture improves reliability by maximizing the signal-to-noise integrity of each spatial stream using advanced algorithms and modulation techniques. Quantenna 4x4 MIMO technology also enhances coverage when connecting to non-4x4 MIMO clients, such as iPads or 2x2 and 3x3 MIMO clients found in laptops.
According to In-Stat, there will be more than 200 million web-enabled wire-line consumer electronic (CE) devices in operation in the U.S. by 2014. When PCs and mobile devices are added in, the average U.S. consumer household will own between five and 10 Web-enabled CE devices. The firm reported in November 2010 that over 53 million U.S. broadband households currently view TV programs over the Internet, and 85 percent of these users already view online TV content on multiple devices, including personal computers, TVs and mobile handsets.
Carriers require sustained data rates of at least 120 Mbps in order to deliver each video stream to these CE devices. They also need near-perfect packet-error-rate (PER) data transfer performance to provide enough quality and reliability for the full range of entertainment applications such as watching a full HD sporting event on a 72-inch screen, or playing online multi-player role-playing games that require low-latency performance using bidirectional controllers. Quantenna’s QHS7xx chipset delivers up to four simultaneous video streams at data rates of 150 Mbps, each, to ensure carrier-grade connection reliability and the best possible viewing and gaming experience.
