Crossroads Systems has announced significant new support for SPHiNX, the industry's most cost-effective virtual tape appliance that serves as a disaster recovery solution for mid-range servers.
Further expanding its reach, the latest version of SPHiNX provides support for IBM i 7.1, AIX 7.1 and the latest Red Hat Linux environments. Crossroads is featuring its new support at the COMMON 2011 Annual Meeting and Exposition taking place at the Minneapolis Convention Center through May 3.
SPHiNX offers a common platform to address critical data protection needs in a simple, cost-effective and high-performance manner. All organizations using the newly supported environments can now take full advantage of SPHiNX's capability to reduce data management and storage complexities through a fully integrated end-to-end backup solution.
Other new features include support for CIFS volume limit settings, 8 Gb FC connections, and NPIV support on IBM i host systems. Additionally, SPHiNX now provides a number of performance enhancements and offers several GUI enhancements with automation of numerous advanced tape management related tasks.
"Building on the support and feature set announced during previous COMMON events, Crossroads is pleased to once again expand its SPHiNX support to extend to other systems in the data center -- all while also increasing usability and improving performance," said Glenn Haley, senior product manager at Crossroads Systems. "The COMMON 2011 Annual Meeting and Exposition serves as an important venue for Crossroads to highlight the fast-growing number of environments that SPHiNX supports."
