PCTEL has announced the release of the SeeGull MX, a major innovation in scanning receivers for multi-technology networks. Ideal for wireless network operators deploying LTE over existing WCDMA, GSM, CDMA and EV-DO networks, SeeGull MX provides fully concurrent measurements on up to three wireless technologies, specialized measurement for MIMO systems, and support for up to eight operating bands.
Mobile network operators face challenges deploying and optimizing 4G Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies such as LTE. Network engineering teams must deploy highly tuned LTE RANs to leverage the data throughput advantages of MIMO-based technology. They must also manage changes to the operating bands of their existing networks as spectrum is re-farmed and reallocated. SeeGull MX addresses these challenges with its high performance, concurrent measurement technology. The new platform provides maximum channel power and signal-to-noise quality measurements across each network in a single drive test without sacrificing data density, sensitivity, or quality. Additionally, SeeGull MX’s modular Software-Defined Radio architecture and RF design allow receivers to be reconfigured to evolving network operating requirements.
“SeeGull MX continues PCTEL’s position as a leader in the development of high performance receivers for network deployment, troubleshooting, and optimization,” according to Jeff Miller, PCTEL’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “The performance capabilities of SeeGull MX are essential to wireless broadband network operators deploying emerging LTE MIMO technology. The advanced signal processing capabilities of SeeGull MX deliver a combination of speed and dynamic range performance, multi-technology capability, and flexible configuration options that will set the new standard in scanning receivers into the future,” said Miller.
The SeeGull MX is now available worldwide. Integration of the SeeGull MX into tools provided by leading drive test solutions providers is currently underway.
