BSC, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, in association with PRACE, the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe, will arrange the first BSC-PRACE code porting and optimization workshop in 21-23 October 2009 in Barcelona (North Campus of the UPC, Polytechnical University of Catalonia).
This workshop is addressed to potential users of future Petascale systems in Europe. Researchers and students from Europe and beyond will receive advanced training in programming models and optimization techniques and they are encouraged to bring their own codes to work with during the hands-on sessions.
The main topics for this training will be code porting to OpenMP 3.0, Cell Superscalar (CellSs) and UPC (Unified Parallel C). All these programming models are developed in order to get the maximum performance for the next generation of petaflops systems. The prerequisites are familiarity with parallel programming and the usage of parallel computers.
Registration is open until October 12th, 2009. The number of seats for all participants at the workshop is limited to 25. The workshop is part of the PRACE project's education and training task and its aim is to implement a European High Performance Computing (HPC) education and training programme for scalable scientific computing. The workshop is free of charge. Participants will only have to pay their travel and accommodation themselves.
