iVivity, a leading technology provider of chip, board and component systems for integration into storage network processors, and Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation, a leading designer and supplier of innovative, high performance integrated circuits for Ethernet and Storage applications today announced the successful completion of interoperability between iVivity's iDiSX and Vitesse's Barrington Mac Family. This reference design will be demonstrated at Storage Networking World in Orlando, October 25-28, 2004, and available to customers beginning November 2004. The combination of iDiSX and Schaumburg, a member of the Barrington MAC family, accelerates the development of solutions for Storage over IP, such as Fibre Channel over IP and iSCSI. OEMs who build their systems around components such as iVivity's iDiSX 2000 and Vitesse's Barrington Mac Family can focus on their core competency of system-level development instead of board-level connectivity. The Barrington family is based on Vitesse's third generation MAC architecture and includes the flagship 24-port VSC7324, the 16-port VSC7325 (Frankfort), and the 12-port VSC7326 (Schaumburg). Combining Vitesse's products with iVivity's iDiSX 2000 allows the flexibility to use different MAC devices on high-density platforms such as Ethernet switches and routers, and utilize up to 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports into a single 10Gbps packet processor. iDiSX provides customers optimal flexibility and control for addressing a variety of storage architectures using industry standard interfaces such as Ethernet MACs, security processors, and other protocol controllers. Customers can configure 4-port or 8-port iSCSI solutions and leverage the powerful functionality of iDiSX 2000 to achieve storage virtualization and advanced RAID features, and to maximize increased storage performance. "We continue to see positive results in both our partner and strategic alliance initiatives," said Garvin Stewart, Director of Marketing for iVivity. "It is clear that partnering with Vitesse allows iVivity to deliver OEM-focused solutions that enable our customers to achieve their development goals and lower their overall costs." "Vitesse continues to demonstrate knowledge of emerging storage and data-networking applications by partnering with leading-edge technology companies such as iVivity," said Mark Fauber, Director of Marketing for Vitesse. "The comprehensive testing and seamless interoperability of iVivity's iDiSX and Vitesse's Barrington Mac Family is a powerful example of how system designers can streamline and accelerate development using standards-based, best-of-breed components." Background: Founded in 2000, iVivity has pioneered the development of a revolutionary new storage network processor component architecture named iDiSX and is accelerating the trend toward a more intelligent storage network. iDiSX storage network processor based systems are higher performance, more compact, less costly and easier to design and develop than comparable software on general purpose platforms. iDiSX based technology can be used in all manner of storage systems including RAID arrays, appliances, intelligent switches and storage blades. iVivity headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia.
