StorageTek Names New Vice President

LOUISVILLE, CO -- StorageTek(R) (Storage Technology Corp., (NYSE: STK)) has named Roy Perry vice president, Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics and Quality Processes. He will report to Pat Martin, StorageTek chairman, president and CEO. Perry, formerly with Dell Computer Corporation, will have responsibility for StorageTek's global supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, parts depots, quality and business management processes, as well as the StorageTek IS organization. "Roy is a highly-experienced manufacturing and quality executive," Martin said. "He brings us more than 20 years of experience in increasingly significant leadership and management roles, and his track record of manufacturing cost reductions and quality improvements will add real value to StorageTek." Prior to joining StorageTek, Perry spent four and a half years with Dell as the vice president of its Worldwide Manufacturing and Customer Experience, its Home and Small Business Segment and its Dimension, Latitude, and Inspiron Manufacturing Operations. He also spent 15 years at IBM in various manufacturing and operations positions, and two years at Allied Signal. "I am delighted at the opportunity to work at StorageTek," Perry said. The experience I've gained in leading manufacturing operations, logistics, quality and customer experience will allow me to make a quick and significant impact at StorageTek." Perry has served as an active member of several community and professional organizations including Youth About Business, Leadership and Enrichment Through The Arts Program (LEAP), National Society of Black Engineers and the United Negro College Fund Campaign for Central Texas. He also acts as a technical advisor to Iowa State University and Prairie View A & M University to strengthen each university's engineering curriculum. Perry holds a master's degree in Management from Stanford University, a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Prairie View A & M University.
