Storage Manufacturer Texas Memory Systems Awards QLogic SANbox 9000 Series Switches its FAST (Fast Access Storage Tested) Certification:Texas Memory Systems today announced that it has awarded its FAST (Fast Access Storage Tested) certification to the QLogic SANbox 9000 Series Fibre Channel Director switches. The QLogic SANbox 9000 Series is a new class of core switch that requires less rack space, power and cooling than any other Director switch, at a fraction of the cost. The SANbox 9000 Series can be deployed alongside Texas Memory Systems’ RamSan solid state disks (SSD) to significantly accelerate enterprise applications and critical databases. Texas Memory Systems’ FAST program is designed to help IT managers and database administrators configure high-performance storage networks that can accelerate I/O-intensive databases, OLTP (online transaction processing), OLAP (online analytical processing), modeling, content streaming and high-volume data acquisition environments. All FAST certified products passed Texas Memory Systems interoperability tests and demonstrated performance or features critical to customers of the 4 gigabit per second RamSan SSDs. Enterprise software applications support more concurrent users, handle higher volumes of simultaneous transactions and experience fewer technical problems when running on high-performance solid state storage systems. The fastest systems available today are based on 4 gigabit Fibre Channel solid state disks, which can deliver data at up to 800-megabytes per second per channel. Texas Memory Systems’ RamSan 4 gigabit solid state disks are used by stock exchanges, financial trading firms, e-commerce sites, telecommunications companies and other fast growing companies for their unmatched performance and reliability. The fastest Texas Memory Systems RamSan system can currently sustain close to 3 gigabytes per second across eight ports. “Texas Memory Systems introduced the FAST program over a year ago because IT managers and database administrators want a complete solution that allows them to boost the performance of their software,” said Woody Hutsell, Executive Vice President of Texas Memory Systems. “By pre-testing and certifying interrelated components for interoperability and performance we enable IT managers to easily configure complete solutions that are faster and more reliable without the risks and delays of a trial-and-error process.” “The SANbox 9000 Series is a perfect match for high performance RamSan SSDs ,” said Jesse Parker, vice president and general manager, Network Solutions Group. QLogic Corp. “Only the SANbox 9000 has the capability to offer 10Gb connectivity from RamSan SSDs in the datacenter core, to SANbox 5000 switches and servers on the edge.”
