Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT company with mainframe-class products for the Solaris market, announced today that it has extended its highly successful IT infrastructure solution FlexFrame to include Solaris operating system support. This paves the way for "grid in a box" and is the logical next step for the comprehensive and compelling IT solution strategy of Fujitsu Siemens Computers. In this context, Adaptive Computing can be considered as a special characteristic of grid computing. As an extension of Fujitsu Siemens Computers going-to-market with FlexFrame, the new FlexFrame 3.1 now offers support for PRIMEPOWER servers based on SPARC64 and Solaris continuing to bring cutting-edge solutions to market. FlexFrame 3.1 for my SAP Business Suite, an early incarnation of grid technology on IT infrastructure level, brings together industry-leading technologies: PRIMEPOWER server technology, mySAP Business Suite solutions, Solaris operating system and NetApp storage to provide customers a solution that enables them a significant reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO) for entire IT environments by reducing outlay for internal integration. FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite enables an organisation to pursue a growth strategy and quickly react to changes in its business environment. In addition, FlexFrame 3.1 supports mixed environments of PRIMERGY / Intel / Linux and PRIMEPOWER /SPARC64 / Solaris servers. FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite: Background FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite is the worldwide first IT Infrastructure realisation of SAP's Adaptive Computing capabilities as part of SAP NetWeaver and a joint project of the technology partners Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Network Appliance. It allows a significant reduction in TCO for entire IT environments by reducing outlay for internal integration. FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite thus enables an organisation to pursue a growth strategy and quickly react to changes in its business environment. SAP's Adaptive Computing capabilities and its adaptation on IT Infrastructure level with FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite bring about substantially increased IT infrastructure flexibility by simplifying the implementation and execution of business applications and cutting operating costs. These enhanced results are achieved via the full virtualisation of mySAP Business Suite solutions and the decoupling of these services from infrastructural resources, such as computing, network, storage and control/system management. These resources are then made available on the basis of the innovative principles of autonomous systems by way of features such as virtualisation and automatic provisioning. In more than 50 installations customers worldwide are already experiencing the value and benefits of FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite with proven TCO reductions up to 60%. Furthermore, FlexFrame is also a practical example of virtualisation for TRIOLETM, the most recent global IT optimisation strategy announced by Fujitsu Siemens Computers. PRIMEPOWER PRIMEPOWER has been a premier platform for Solaris since 1998. With outstanding performance records, Fujitsu Siemens Computers' PRIMEPOWER servers, from 2-processor systems through 128-processor systems, are leading the way in the field of Unix servers. The highest level of data processing reliability in the Unix RISC server market accompanies the outstanding performance capability. The entire PRIMEPOWER server family guarantees 100% compatibility with Solaris. All Fujitsu Siemens Computers PRIMEPOWER systems are certified as part of Sun's Solaris Hardware Partner Program (SHWP). Any application developed using standard Solaris Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and Application Binary Interfaces (ABIs) will run on PRIMEPOWER systems unmodified including, of course, Sun's middleware software products (http://www.sun.com/servers/fujitsu). FlexFrame 3.1 is a critical part of the TRIOLE strategy, which stands for the design, development and deployment of products, solutions and services to help users align optimising their IT infrastructure. It will allow customers to enhance business efficiency, increase business agility and improve business continuity. PRIMEPOWER servers are a core product line in TRIOLE scenarios for optimised IT and deliver incredible value to customers.
