Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. today announced it has purchased Reston, Virginia-based Advanced Radio Corporation, a developer of radio frequency (RF) products targeting signals intelligence (SIGINT) applications and commercial opportunities such as wireless infrastructure testing. The cash transaction of approximately $7.0 million was structured as the purchase by Mercury of the outstanding stock of Advanced Radio Corporation. "The acquisition will enable Mercury to develop front-end RF products that complement our real-time processing strengths in the SIGINT market," said Jay Bertelli, president and chief executive officer, Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. "The integrated systems are expected to significantly enhance the ability of reconnaissance platforms to detect and locate modern enemy communications systems as well as target threats and to provide real-time intelligence on enemy intentions and capabilities to our warfighters." "Our customers will be able to purchase integrated, commercial off-the- shelf (COTS) solutions, saving time and development costs," said Chris Martins, president, Advanced Radio Corporation. "We believe the superior sensitivity of our RF products will increase the amount of intercepted signals captured for processing, significantly improving communications intelligence capabilities, through Mercury's high-performance embedded computing systems." Advanced Radio Corporation's first high-performance receiver product is currently shipping.
