ANAHEIM, CA -- everStor Inc. has introduced jb Driver for Linux, its second-generation, tape-and-optical library robotics driver for all Linux platforms. A cost-effective alternative to expensive software packages, jb Driver's script and command-line user interface allows fast, easy integration into existing backup applications -- and enables automated software control of Linux-supported online, near-line and archival storage applications. It is a straightforward, highly flexible storage-management tool that allows users to easily integrate tape and optical libraries using their existing backup software. jb Driver is certified to operate with libraries and jukeboxes offered by all major manufacturers, such as STK, Quantum ATL, Qualstar, Overland, HDS, SONY and Plasmon. It also provides barcode support for off-line media tracking, a popular feature on newer jukeboxes and libraries. "We've found that some new jukebox users just need an application to get their libraries to move," said Jon Burgoyne, vice president of development for everStor. "Typically, these folks are doing backups with a script that they put together in-house. The last thing they need or want is an expensive, complicated, all-inclusive backup software package. jb Driver gives them the flexibility to do whatever they want with just three commands -- initialization, move and status." jb Driver is designed to handle all standard tape media, including: DLT, LTO, Exabyte, AIT, DAT -- and optical media such as Magneto Optical, CD/R, CD/RW, DVD and DVD/R. In addition, it supports all variants of SCSI, as well as optical-based interfaces such as Fibre Channel. jb Driver supports advanced Linux features by using the "sg" mode to communicate with storage devices; and it can accommodate an unlimited number of removable storage devices attached to the same host. jb Driver for Linux is available via electronic download, on a CD with an operator's manual, or as an API documented version for OEMs. Full support contracts, including automatic updates are offered. Pricing for jb Driver for Linux starts at $495.00. For more information visit www.everstor.com
